Garage Conversion, Newington

The conversion of a disused garage space into a home office with lots of storage in a conservation area.

Thanks to Gopherwood Carpentry.

The brief

Like many dealing with the pandemic of 2020, our client saw the benefit of a bespoke home office. The brief was to transform a garage into an office, and conceal all electrics and plumbing for utilities within the space.

Planning permission was required due to the house being situated in the Craigmiller Park conservation area.

The solution

Our plan fully insulated the garage, replaced the garage door with a window, and created a series of bespoke storage solutions to provide ample room for everyday essentials. A suspended ceiling neatly concealed the pipework and electrics to create a minimalist, multi-functional space.

Testimonial

“Mary took the time to understand what I was wanting to achieve with my project. She liaised with my already-appointed builder on the final design. She also assisted with sourcing the fixtures and fittings, incorporating my visions for the room. I would highly recommend Mary Carslaw Architects.”
