A-Listed Manor House Apartments, North Berwick

A much-needed refurbishment of an original slate roof from 1898.

With thanks to the residents of Carlekemp and Andrew Edmond Roofing and Building.

The brief

Built in 1898, Carlekemp is a magnificent Grade A-listed Cotswold Elizabethan style manor house, which was converted into apartments in 1977.

The roof requires to be fully re-slated and refurbished. Due to the A-listed status of the building, we are tasked with applying for Listed Building Consent (LBC) to ensure any changes to the external fabric are managed so as not to negatively impact the building’s historic character. Consent from East Lothian Council and Historic Environment Scotland (HES) is required in respect of the intended works and conservation practices.

The solution

We are currently in the process of compiling the Listed Building Consent application including undertaking a full measured survey to produce detailed elevations / roof plans and slate analysis. An update will be provided once the application has been completed.

Testimonial

We’ll provide a testimonial once the project has been completed.
